Saeed Memon is appointed as Secretary of Sindh Commission for Protection of Journalists and Other Media Practitioners

Karachi, [Karam Junejo]: The Sindh Commission for the Protection of Journalists and Other Media Practitioners (SCPJMP) has appointed Mr. Saeed Memon as its Secretary. The formal notification was issued today by the Information Department, Government of Sindh.
Established under the Sindh Journalists Protection Act, 2021, the Commission is dedicated to ensuring the safety and security of journalists across the province. Notably, this pioneering initiative stands as the first of its kind in Pakistan, reflecting Sindh’s commitment to safeguarding media professionals and upholding freedom of the press.
Mr. Saeed Memon brings a wealth of expertise and a distinguished academic background to his new role. Saeed Memon is a Chevening scholar, Civil Servant, and Sussex graduate in Governance, Development, and Public Policy. Throughout his career, Saeed has contributed to various government departments influencing policy processes, especially in the fields of information, culture, tourism, and working with indigenous communities of Pakistan. He recently completed a short course from the University of Cambridge on the Paris Agreement, Sustainable Development and Environmental Governance. He is a regular contributor to local media and a public speaker. Saeed speaks Sindhi, Urdu/Hindi, English, and a little German.
As Secretary of the Commission, Mr. Memon is expected to play a pivotal role in advancing the Commission’s mission to protect journalists and media practitioners while fostering an environment that encourages free and responsible journalism.
