National Leaders Express Condolences on the Passing of Prince Karim Aga Khan

Lisbon, Portugal – February 5, 2025: National leaders and government officials in Pakistan have expressed their deep sorrow over the passing of Prince Karim Aga Khan IV, the spiritual leader of the Ismaili Muslim community.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif extended his condolences, stating that he stands with the Ismaili community in their time of grief. He described Prince Karim Aga Khan as a visionary leader who dedicated his life to eradicating poverty, promoting healthcare, education, and gender equality. He emphasized that Aga Khan was a beacon of hope for the underprivileged and left an indelible mark on countless lives.

Acting President Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani also expressed his condolences, noting that he was deeply saddened by the passing of Prince Karim Aga Khan. He praised Aga Khan’s invaluable contributions to education and healthcare and highlighted his commitment to peace, tolerance, and humanitarian service. He added that the people of Pakistan mourn his passing.

Federal Minister for Interior Mohsin Naqvi described Aga Khan’s social contributions as unforgettable, particularly his significant work in Pakistan’s education and healthcare sectors. He said that the world has lost a great humanitarian and a compassionate leader.

Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah remarked that Prince Karim Aga Khan played a vital role in the education and welfare of his community. He acknowledged his outstanding contributions in health, education, and social welfare, affirming that the Sindh government and its people share the grief of the Ismaili community.

Senior Sindh Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon lauded Prince Karim Aga Khan as a remarkable statesman and humanitarian whose countless efforts for global welfare were unparalleled. He stated that Pakistan Peoples Party and the Sindh government stand in solidarity with the Ismaili community during this difficult time.

Sindh Minister for Irrigation Jam Khan Shoro also expressed profound grief, describing Prince Karim Aga Khan as a great leader and philanthropist whose contributions will always be remembered. He highlighted Aga Khan’s efforts in global development and prosperity, acknowledging his family’s invaluable services to Pakistan.
