Karachi’s Cricketing Glory Restored: Murad Ali Shah Inaugurates Upgraded National Bank Stadium

KARACHI (Roshan Sindh): In a moment of celebration for Karachi’s cricketing enthusiasts, Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah officially inaugurated the newly upgraded National Bank Stadium, revamped to host the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. More than just a renovation, the transformation symbolizes the city’s deep-rooted love for cricket and its readiness to welcome the global stage once again.

Representing President Asif Ali Zardari at the grand ceremony, the CM lauded the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for completing the ambitious project in record time. The event was graced by prominent figures, including PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi and several distinguished guests.

Murad Ali Shah reaffirmed his government’s unwavering commitment to sports development, stating, “Karachi is not just a city; it’s the heartbeat of Pakistan’s cricket. The Sindh government remains dedicated to providing world-class sports facilities, ensuring our players and fans get the best experience.”

Reflecting on past achievements, he recalled the 2018 revamp of the stadium for Pakistan Super League (PSL) matches, underscoring Karachi’s pivotal role in reviving international cricket in Pakistan. With passion in his voice, he assured continued support for the sport at all levels.

“We will spare no effort in restoring Karachi’s legacy as a hub of cricket and sports,” he vowed. Looking ahead to the ICC Champions Trophy, the CM exuded confidence in the national team, declaring, “Our Shaheens are ready to soar. We expect nothing less than a spirited performance.”
