Sindh CM, Bangladesh Home Secretary Discuss Safe City Project and Direct Karachi-Dhaka Flights
KARACHI, Sept 25, 2025 — Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah welcomed Bangladesh Home Secretary Naseem-ul-Ghani at CM House on Thursday. The meeting was also attended by Bangladesh High Commissioner Iqbal Hussain Khan, Sindh Home Secretary Iqbal Memon, IGP Ghulam Nabi Memon, and CM’s Principal Secretary Abdul Rahim Shaikh.
Discussions focused on Sindh’s Safe City Project, with the CM highlighting the newly established AI-powered Command and Control Center at the IGP office. The system enables real-time facial recognition and vehicle number plate detection. Mr. Ghani praised the initiative after visiting the center and expressed interest in Bangladesh collaborating with Sindh on the project.
Both sides also explored ways to enhance connectivity. The CM and the Bangladeshi delegation agreed on the importance of starting direct flights between Karachi and Dhaka, which would boost bilateral trade. While Bangladesh had earlier launched a direct shipping service that was later discontinued, Mr. Ghani urged Pakistan’s federal government to help resume it.
CM Shah noted Karachi’s progress in safety, remarking that while the city was once ranked among the most dangerous globally, it now stands at 85th place on the crime index.
