Sindh CM Murad Ali Shah’s Message on World Maritime Day: “Our Ocean, Our Responsibility, Our Opportunities”

Sustainable use of marine resources and development of the blue economy are Sindh government’s top priorities: CM

Karachi (September 25, 2025) — Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, in his message on World Maritime Day, said that the ocean is the center of life, economy, and global trade, and its sustainable use is our foremost responsibility. He noted that this year’s theme is “Our Ocean, Our Responsibility, Our Opportunities.”

The CM emphasized that tackling climate change and marine pollution is a pressing need of the time. He said the Sindh government is working to strengthen the fisheries sector and promote marine research. Highlighting the importance of Karachi Port and Port Qasim, he described them as the backbone of national and global trade, while reiterating his government’s focus on port infrastructure and the development of the blue economy.

Murad Ali Shah further stated that maritime trade plays an undeniable role in Pakistan’s economy and that steps are being taken to safeguard the livelihoods of fishermen and coastal communities. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to promote sustainable maritime growth through international partnerships and to ensure clean and safe oceans for future generations.
