KARACHI (17 October) — Sindh Senior Minister and Minister for Information, Transport and Mass Transit Sharjeel Inam Memon has announced that the Sindh government will allocate Rs55.9 billion under the Benazir Hari Card Programme to promote wheat cultivation and support small farmers across the province.

In the first phase, around 400,000 farmers will benefit from the initiative, covering 2.26 million acres of agricultural land.

Sharjeel Inam Memon stated that 50,000 Benazir Hari Cards will be issued through Sindh Bank by the end of this month, and registration is already in progress. Farmers with existing Benazir Hari Cards have been advised to update their registration, while new applicants can register using their CNIC or land record.

He emphasized that biometric verification and a digital land record system will ensure complete transparency. Under the Wheat Growers Programme, priority will be given to farmers owning 1 to 25 acres of land. Each eligible farmer will receive one bag of DAP and two bags of urea fertilizer to support wheat cultivation.

“The Sindh government is committed to empowering small farmers, promoting wheat production, and achieving agricultural self-sufficiency,”
Sharjeel Inam Memon, Senior Minister Sindh

Memon added that the Benazir Hari Card is designed not just to provide financial assistance but to help farmers become self-reliant with dignity. In the next phase, the programme will be expanded to include millions of additional farmers across Sindh.
