SPSC Condemns Malicious Media Campaign, Clarifies Status of Suspended Officer
Hyderabad: The Sindh Public Service Commission (SPSC) has issued a strong rebuttal to what it describes as a “malicious and misleading” media campaign launched against the Commission and its officers.
In an official press release, the SPSC stated that the campaign was initiated “by certain mischievous individuals at the behest of Mr. Muhammad Ayoub Panhwar, Assistant Director Recruitment,” who is currently under suspension and facing a formal departmental inquiry under the Sindh Civil Servants (Efficiency & Discipline) Rules, 1973.
According to the Commission, the inquiry involves charges of misconduct, breach of discipline, misbehavior towards Members, violation of official protocols, and intimidation of authority through WhatsApp messages, as well as the filing of frivolous petitions and contempt applications against SPSC management.
To ensure fairness and transparency, the SPSC has appointed a senior member of impeccable integrity, who retired in BPS-22, as Enquiry Officer to examine the allegations and submit legal recommendations.
The Commission reaffirmed its commitment to transparency, accountability, and fair administration, emphasizing that it welcomes constructive criticism and responsible journalism, but “strongly condemns any baseless media campaign or personal attacks” aimed at maligning the institution or its officers.
Furthermore, the SPSC warned individuals and entities against conducting a “media trial” involving its officials or their families, calling such acts unethical and unlawful. The Commission has reserved the right to pursue legal action against anyone involved in defamatory, false, or malicious activities.
