World Antimicrobial Resistance Awareness Walk

ISLAMABAD (Samaj News) The Awareness Walk brought together the World Health Organization, National Institute of Health, health partners, students, and members of the community to raise a united voice against the growing threat of antimicrobial resistance. WHO Country Rep Dr. Dabang, National Technical Focal Person for Polio Eradication Dr. Altaf Bosan and Head of NIH Dr. Salman lead the walk.

Misuse and overuse of antibiotics are diminishing their effectiveness, putting millions of lives at risk. When antibiotics stop working, common infections can once again become deadly, and medical procedures such as surgeries, childbirth, and cancer treatment become far more dangerous.

This awareness initiative highlights the urgent need for responsible use of antibiotics—only when prescribed by qualified health professionalsand for strengthening infection prevention, vaccination, surveillance, and public education.

The walk symbolizes our collective responsibility to preserve the power of antibiotics for future generations. Together, we can protect our present and secure our future by handling antimicrobials with care.

Antibiotics are a shared resource — let’s protect them today for a healthier tomorrow.
