Retaliatory Suspension After Hindu Students’ Allegations Sparks Outrage
Mirpur Sakro (Roshan Sindh) The investigation into the allegations made by Hindu students of Government Girls High School Mirpur Sakro—accusing the Head Mistress of allegedly attempting to forcibly convert them and humiliating them—has been further expanded.
On the instructions of Education Minister Syed Sardar Shah, Inquiry Officer Noman Siddiqui from the Directorate of Education arrived in Mirpur Sakro. Accompanied by District Education Officer (Secondary) Huzoor Bakhsh Khaskheli and Officer Farooq Junejo, the inquiry team recorded statements of the Hindu students, their parents, the school’s Head Mistress, and several teachers. Statements of students Veshita and Sanon Maheshwari, as well as HM Gulnaz Jokhio, were also documented.
Director Board Noman Siddiqui is also monitoring the situation.
Meanwhile, strong criticism has emerged on social media over the suspension of Sanon Maheshwari, the father of one of the affected students. Social activists and human rights advocates have condemned the move, calling it a retaliatory action.
In a widely shared statement, a social media activist Shujauddin Qureshi said:
“This is an open act of revenge by a religious-extremist chairman. A Hindu sanitary worker has been suspended only because his daughter spoke up against a teacher who was earlier suspended after an official inquiry for alleged forced conversion attempts.”
The activist further stated:
“Instead of supporting due process, religious hardliners have rallied behind the accused teacher and are now targeting the girl’s father, who courageously spoke out in a press conference. Suspending a sanitary worker without any inquiry is a blatant injustice.”
Social media leaders say that this action by the Mirpur Sakro Town Committee administration is not only unfair but also deeply alarming for minority rights, justice, and transparency.
Further inquiry into the matter is still underway.
